Echoes

Some of us may remember childhood experiences of visiting a national park and being able to hear your echo! It was kind of fun to yell out something and hear your voice bounce back to your multiple times. It was fascinating! How does that happen? I know there is a scientific explanation but, in the moment, as a child, the wonderment of it just adds to the experience.

As we grow into adult hood those echoes change. Life experiences leave us with remnants of experiences that some times resonate and echo throughout our lives. Sometimes those echoes are pleasant and give a sense of peace and fond memories. Other times those echoes are deafening and leave a negative vibration that resonates throughout our lives. A vibration that affects our relationships and how we see ourselves. It’s those echoes that we need to quiet. Those echoes that need to be put to rest. Sometimes they are still there because of unresolved experiences. Experiences where there was no closure. I have found such value in taking the journey back to put those echoes to rest. It was not always a pleasant journey back, but the result has always been worth it. The echoes of the past that cast a cloud over the present and the future, have disappeared. They have disappeared and made way for the light that resides in the present and future! They have disappeared and open the door to new possibilities that might not exist, had those echoes still been present!

I select a word to focus on each year. One year it was Freedom. That particular year was of great significance because it was the year that I released some of those echoes. We have to be intentional about our moment in time because it is all we have. We have control over how we can experience our present. So many of us have been deeply impacted by the pandemic season. Life is too short to let the echoes of the past, hinder the brightness and beauty of what lies in store for the future. We have come through so much and come so far. Yes, there is still more to come but why not find and embrace the beauty of the moment? Each day that you wake up is an opportunity to do something phenomenal! Leave those old echoes behind and create new and lasting memories that will make the echoes of your future, sound amazing! Speak life and let it echo back to you!
