As with childbirth, with each conception there is a new life that is formed, shaped, molded, and designed for a specific purpose and calling. New birth is often referred to when a transformation of some sort, takes place. I think as we journey through life, we have opportunities for new births or new beginnings to occur throughout our lives. It may be conceived through different means, but the potential is always there. We sometimes may miss our new birth because we are not patient enough to allow the process to unfold. With all the ever-changing technology in today’s society, we have been introduced to a “microwave” method of doing things. Nothing seems to take as long as it used to. There are short cuts, abbreviated versions, and there seems to be a “Cliff Notes” version of just about everything. We don’t have to wait for anything anymore! Instant, fast, speedy, no waiting, boom! It’s there! It’s done! However, there is one process that cannot be sped up, made instant, or microwaved. Can you guess what that might be? You and me! That’s right! I have yet to see any scientist or tech wiz figure out a way to speed up the gestation period for human development! No matter how you calculate or analyze, the process takes 9 months! Period! 9 months for fingers and toes and bones and tissue and cells and eyes and nose and ears and hair…. you get the picture! There are some things in our lives that will still take a symbolic 9 months to develop, properly. The question is do we have the patience and wisdom to discern this small detail?
World class athletes will spend a lifetime preparing for that one moment in time! World class musicians will study and practice for a lifetime in order to be considered world class! Some things take time and we must learn the fine and powerful art of patience. We have recently experienced the effects of a worldwide pandemic. There are some countries that made the hard decision to completely shut down in order to stop the spread of the virus. It was difficult staying inside and away from family, friends, and co-workers. It was difficult not being able to go to work or school. It was difficult being still and allowing the process of healing to take place. Those citizens persevered and are now not only in a healthier environment but have returned to their daily routines. Other countries have not been as patient and continue to struggle with growing sickness, illness, and death. The difference? Patience! Patience is a discipline. Patience is a virtue. When exercised, the rewards can be great! This may be a season of a new birth for you. Will you be patient, or will you rush the process and miss the full development of your blessings?!
